Our house and property is Buck Creek. There is a creek that runs right by our home. The very first time we visited our property there was a huge buck deer standing in the creek. His rack was large and he was amazing. We bought the property and built our home and Buck Creek came into existence. Our 5 children and 16 grandchildren have played in our creek and ran through the woods.We've lived, loved, laughed, and cried here for 41wonderful years. Love from Missouri

I bought my 850 sq ft house last summer. It had been in the same family for 73 years. With many built in shelves and crown moldings, done by the first generation husband. All of the interior doors have glass knobs. The first few pieces of vintage furniture I got also had glass drawer pulls. At this point, about 11 months in there are now many additional pieces with glass knobs, totalling more than 30 and counting.... so I live in THE GLASS KNOB Cottage ❤

Loved the video and your idea of naming where you live. It inspired me to think about and research the meaning behind Biltmore Estate i visited in 2018. Bildt was named after Dutch town in vanderbilt ancestry and more signified old English word of rolling hills of the mountains in NC. Im thinking of Pinecone Lodge....pine trees loaded with pinecones on the property of our house, and my bedroom.theme is pinecone. Wall paper looks like logs and an amish built queen bed with nightstands,. The lamps look like log cabins with a country flickering light inside that lights up the cabin for a night light. Great idea and awesome flower arrangements ❤

When we built our house years ago the plans for our house was called Amhurst so that’s the name of our house.

When we bought our lot it had a wheat field on it. I thought about calling it Wheatfield Cottage or Wheatfield house. My husband suggested Honeysuckle House since we live on Honeysuckle Ln. I also love pineapples and they are a symbol of welcome so I thought about Pineapple Cottage. Our house isn’t your typical cottage, but it’s a colonial and in the movie “Sense and Sensibility” the Dashwoods lived at Barton Cottage which reminds me of our home, so cottage it might be! Your floral arrangements were so lovely!

This is one of my all-time favorite videos. I'm from KY and its a common thing to see homes with names in the South. The very wealthy always had their plantations named while in present day northern Kentucky, all the huge horse farms are named. I have a friend who named her home " Chickadee Ridge" because she has lots of Chickadees and her home is on a ridge.

I have always loved the name Gull Cottage from my favorite movie "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir."

Because of this video, I have just named my condo Riverpath because it's steps from the Boise River and that was my #1 criteria in finding a condo to buy. I would not have to get in my car to drive to the river, which I walk every day on a small path to the Boise River. Fantastic inspiration!!

You're so right, you don't have to have a mansion or castle to name your place -- one of my favorite book series is Anne of Green Gables. That was the name of the farm owned by her foster parents, the Cuthberts, because it had... green gables. Anne's best friend Diana's house was called Orchard Slope.

So I love the idea of naming the apartment I rent -- it's a duplex and my landlady lives right next door. But it would feel weird naming one and not the other, since there are two. So give the whole property a name? I'd love some suggestions.

We bought a fixer upper with 5 acres. We have a 1 acre pond that was neglected. We bought the property because of the brick house, the acreage, and the pond. I am stumped! Maybe…too much work!?!😂

We purchased our home 45 years ago, and planted 8 white pines across the back of our lot...hence, 8 Pines. But, we have lost the pines....so, perhaps a new name needed? Oh, a new home then, on only 1/2 acre in Georgia. Not hoity toity, just fun!

Linda, such a great topic for a video. 23 years ago we bought property that had a creek running thru it so our place was called Casey Creek. Recently, we built a barndomimium in our barn and named it “The Buck Shed”. My husband is an avid hunter of big bucks and we also enjoy searching for buck sheds! Gonna build a new home on the river and will certainly be naming it as well! We even name different areas on our farm so we know where hunters will be ; Walnut grove,The Orchard, Death Valley (my son killed a big buck here), Pipeline, The Bowl. Loved your floral arrangements, the urn was stubbing!

Our house should be called ‘the dog house’ as the dogs let us live here. They are royalty….

My home does not,currently, have a name. But after much thought, I think I will name it, “Sweetgum Cottage.” I have a sweetgum tree in my front yard,back yard and my neighbors on either side have them, too. The balls from the trees make a mess to clean up in the spring. They are actually a very beneficial tree used to make veneer, plywood, cabinets and furniture and they have a lot of medicinal purposes, too. I just don’t like the mess. I decorate my home in more of a cottage style. so hence the cottage in the name. Linda, you did a beautiful job with the floral arrangements for your club. I’m sure they were very happy. Our home I’ve named Orchard Pond as it’s situated behind an apple orchard & we have a pond. It works.

I am a part of two houses with a name. My husband and I own a place on a lake in NH and my son named it Sunny Side Up. When we first got our cottage my son slept on the east facing porch that had no shades and that’s how he named it. We also inherited from my husband’s grandparents, a cottage on the coast of Maine named Flintwood. Flint for Great Aunt Mollie Flint who lived there for many years and Wood for His grandmother and grandfather Woodbury. Every house should have a name in my humble opinion!

I live in a heavily treed Victorian area. My husband calls the area MILDEW MANOR and that is aptly named 😂😅

Our home is called WilRose Place. I have inherited the property from my parents Wil and Rose Hébert from Louisiana. French family.

I forgot to mention that my daughter's name is Hollie and so we named her new home Holliewood and created a copy of the famous Hollywood sign for her backyard which is full of trees on a small hill. It is lit at night and can be seen coming up the driveway . She's also a big vintage film buff so it works on many levels.

I was enchanted with the name given to Meg and Mr. Brooks' cottage in Little Women - Dovecote, and so named my house this as it was being built. A bonus was when we discovered there was a huge Mourning Dove population and now I collect items for the house and garden with doves represented and had some pretty writing paper and envelopes with Dovecote and the address printed up. The house we painted dove grey of course. The infamous Lizzie Borden named her large Queen Anne home in Fall River Maplecroft due to all of the maple trees and had that carved in the top step back in 1908. Yes, every house needs a name.

We live on Boysenberry Hill. We built the house and it is on a hill,but the boysenberry part is quite unique to our area. When we cleared the area for building,we found boysenberries on the property. And yes it was fun to name our home.😀

My home is called Primhaven. I love to decorate it in Colonial and Primitive Antiques. It is my sanctuary. What a great idea using canning jars wrapped in tissue paper and also using the Antique Coffee Pot for your Floral Centerpieces. The tables looked just beautiful. My home is called Misty Valley Acres. A 50 acre farm north of Pittsburgh, PA. Our family cabin on the Allegheny River further north in the mountains was named by my dad over 50 years ago. He named it Camp Sit N Bull. He loved hqving people over to sit and BS!

Years ago, when we had a flock of sheep and my husband hybridized daylilies, we chose the name…Lambs & Lilies Cottage. ❤️

My home and property are small, and i strive for my gardens to attract bees. I had a custom sign made calling it "Bee Haven".

My husband is a Licensed Residential Contractor and with that being said, we’ve lived in quite a few homes throughout our marriage of 33 years. I’ve named our homes just to keep up with who’s who so to speak. Most I named after the street or neighborhood. The house we live in now is in the Country and we are surrounded by mostly woods and honeysuckle permeates this area every time I walk out the door. So this home is Honeysuckle Cottage. We won’t live here much longer, we will be off to the next adventure in home building. But this home has a sweet spot in my heart and I think it’s because as I grow a year older each year I tend to pay more attention to detail and the places I call home. Loved this video 🫶🏻

A bit late watching this week. Storms passed through Nashville yesterday and my electric was out for hours! Naming a home or property reminded me of several places here in Tennessee, but when Rattle and Snap crossed my mind I had to comment! Yes, Rattle and Snap in Mt. Pleasant, TN. It was won in a crap game at one point so the name was given to represent the sounds of the dice game. The "Rattle" of shaking the dice and the "Snap" of letting them go. My Grandparents referred to the farm where I grew up as "Owl Hollow". Sitting on the porch in summer you would hear owls all night.

Hi Linda I’m from England , and our home is named Tudor lodge , and the oak beams in the house are from an old dismantled ship. It’s very common where I live that a lot of homes are named

My 1913 folk Victorian is called Maple Hurst. I chose this name due to the 200 year old maple tree right outside my window. The amazing fertility of that thing means I'm constantly clearing out maple seedlings from my lawn. Hence the"Hurst" portion. 🤷🤣

I lived and/or worked in small towns and many of the houses were named after an owner. In one town we lived in three houses named after owners and I worked in a small town where the houses were also named after owners. I think Oak Cottage would be nice for our home even though it’s not an old house. We have dozens of oak trees.

We’ve been thinking about naming our home for a while- we go back & forth on ideas. We have a freshwater marsh across the street, that we can see so we thought about ‘marshview’. We like the idea of it!
